Buddha Shakyamuni Relic Space
The sacred Ba Den Mountain is one of the very rare places in Vietnam to be honored with the presence and preservation of the Buddha's relics. These are the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni, gifted by the World Buddhist Federation at Bodh Gaya, India in 2014, with the wish for Vietnamese Buddhism to develop beautifully, become increasingly prosperous, and protect the nation and its people. After nearly 10 years of being kept at Thien Hung Pagoda (Binh Dinh), the Buddha's relics were offered by Thien Hung Pagoda to Ba Den Mountain, the sacred peak of the Southern region, as a prayer for national peace, prosperity, and blessings for all beings.
At the summit of Ba Den Mountain, the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni are solemnly enshrined in a two-tiered crystal stupa, within the sacred relic space, at the Buddhist exhibition center at the foot of the Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue.
Buddha relics (xa loi phat)
According to Buddhist culture, the Buddha is the enlightened one, the transcendent being who saves sentient beings, so his relics will bring happiness and peace. Paying homage to Buddha relics, is like seeing the Buddha still in the mortal world, to transform suffering into happiness. Having Buddha relics is having a place to save, relieve the suffering of sentient beings and seek true peace - that is the most practical miracle.
For Buddhists, paying homage to Buddha relics is an act that brings immeasurable merit. Therefore, many people wish to visit Nui Ba Mountain to witness the Buddha relics, sincerely pay homage, and pray for peace and prosperity, especially as the Linh Son Holy Mother festival is approaching, and this year's ceremony is solemnly and respectfully organized by the Ba mountain pagoda system for 3 days from June 21-23 (corresponding to May 4-6 lunar calendar).
Prajna Paramita Sutra Pillar Cluster with Gold Inscriptions
The statue of the Lady Buddha of Tay Bo Da Son is the center of the spiritual complex on the mountaintop, standing majestically on a lotus amidst the legendary sacred peak. At the foot of the Lady Buddha statue is a 4-story pedestal with a concentric architectural style, with each floor taking visitors into the Buddhist world using world-leading technological applications.
At the lowest level beneath the great Lady Buddha statue is the Dharma lecture hall. This is also the magical space of the pillar cluster inscribed with the Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, with 5 pillars made of black kim sa granite, carved with 12,000 Tibetan sutra characters gilded in gold.
Bat Nha Kinh Pillar Complex
Especially, the largest kinh pillar with a diameter of 2m and a height of 19.8m rises from underground to the center of the water disc in the middle of the vast square at the foot of the Great Buddha statue. This water disc, along with the vast square space at the foot of the Goddess Buddha statue, is where sacred and miraculous lamp-offering ceremonies frequently take place at the summit of Ba Den Mountain on special occasions.
Buddhist Exhibition Center and 3D mapping film space about the formation of the universe
The first-floor area at the foot of the Tay Bo Da Son Goddess Buddha statue is the Buddhist Exhibition Center displaying 163 Buddha statues, with the Thousand-Handed Thousand-Eyed Goddess Buddha statue placed solemnly in the central position.
3D Mapping Film Space
The first-floor corridor also serves as an exhibition space for oil paintings, wooden bas-reliefs, and Buddha statues made from various materials such as gold-plated bronze, lacquer-coated wood… Notably, the dome ceiling of this area is a giant film screen with a 20-meter diameter and a Dome resolution of up to 16 million pixels, vividly recreating the images and movements of the universe. This is a video mapping projection technology with world-leading modern projection and sound equipment, offering a novel experience exploring the Buddhist world for visitors coming to worship at Ba Mountain.
Hologram Technology Display Area for Ancient Pagoda Models
On the second floor of the Buddhist Exhibition Center atop Ba Den Mountain, visitors have the opportunity to explore and admire ancient pagodas in Vietnam through 3D hologram technology – a technology that creates a three-dimensional image floating in the air, allowing viewers to observe a 360-degree floating image without the need for a screen or special glasses.
3D Hologram technology allows visitors to admire models of 16 famous pagodas in Vietnam
Here, there are 16 modern Hologram projection devices, taking visitors on a journey to admire models of 16 famous pagodas in Vietnam such as: Bo Da Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Phat Tich Pagoda, Huong Pagoda, But Thap Pagoda, Thien Mu Pagoda… The pagodas are all over 200 years old and are places that preserve ancient architectural styles, valuable ancient artifacts, and have beautiful and famous grounds.
Also on the second floor, visitors can explore a special room dedicated to Prayer Wheels (Kinh Luan) - a type of ritual object used by Tibetan Buddhist followers for chanting and meditation. Many believe that the Prayer Wheel can spin as a simple way to accumulate immense merit, and simply touching the prayer wheel is a great purification for removing karmic obstacles.
Exhibition space showcasing classic Buddhist artworks
The third floor of the exhibition center, at the foot of the Goddess of Mercy statue, is a space displaying hundreds of simulated versions of classic Buddhist artworks, including many particularly famous Buddha statues from Vietnam and the World. Here, visitors can also admire ancient artifacts in Buddhist architecture made of wood and stone, dating from the 11th to the 13th centuries.
Statue of the Thousand-armed Goddess Buddha
Among the ancient artifacts, one cannot fail to mention the National Treasure – the Statue of Amitabha Buddha at Phat Tich Pagoda (Bac Ninh). This statue has always been considered the pinnacle of sculptural art and religious art of the Ly Dynasty. The statue of Amitabha Buddha is made of stone, with a broad-shouldered, slender body, and a posture slightly leaning forward, exuding a beauty full of fulfillment and mystery.
